Miao the Saxophone Player

This is Miao's graduation recital. I tried to capture it in the order that it happened with the warming up, checking up the hall for audience, some action shots and finish off with professional musician portraits...
I used the D600 fitted with the new 50mm f/1.8G and as a backup my second body, a D5100 with the 25-85 VR f/3.5-4.5 G. Obviously the D600 was the workhorse and I am amazed at the cleanliness of the high ISO images this camera delivers. The D5100 high ISO is not as impressive in this particular lighting scenario.
Since it was a live performance in a large concert venue I couldn't setup strobes and light and had to rely on the existing stage light.
